Joan M. Smith, 96, of Bethlehem Twp. passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in her home surrounded by family. Born on December 11, 1929 in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Anne (Begies) Kelly.
She graduated from Wilson High School and was employed as a medical secretary until her retirement in 1991. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Joan is survived by her son, Charles G. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Kathy; daughters, Nancy J. Smith; Kim A. Smith and her husband, Laurence Jacobs; sister, Jean A. Kelly Jandrositz; grandchildren, Stacey L. Geraghty and her husband, Patrick; Edward Kovacs and his wife, Janelle; Jason Kovacs and his wife, Chrissy; Joseph Kovacs; great-grandchildren, Jensen, Ava, Maci, Kylie, Tyler, Zakary, Michaela, Lainey, Sophie; nieces, Janis Galitzek and Janine Jandrositz and her husband, Rob.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Smith, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Easton, PA. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Farmersville Road, Bethlehem, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, www.donorservices.alz.org. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com.
