Joan Dean Stewart

Joan Dean Stewart, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Waldorf, Maryland on November 5, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on February 18, 1934, in Wise County, Virginia, Joan was the daughter of Myrtle and William Dean. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter among her 11 siblings and attended Wise High School. Joan married Conley W. Stewart Jr. ("Sonny"), and together they traveled across the United States with the U.S. Air Force, including a memorable time in the then-Territory of Alaska.
Joan built a successful career in real estate, serving the Charles County community for over two decades. She worked with Davis Realty, Dehanas Realty, and Long & Foster, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Conley W. Stewart Jr.; sons, Steven Allen Stewart and Robert Michael Stewart (Mike); her parents, William A. and Myrtle (Wyatt) Dean; sisters, Delores (Toddy) Leonard, Christine Davidson, Freddie Bays, Billie Fulton, and Lonza Keene; and brothers, William (Dub) Dean, Raymond J. (Gentle) Dean, Teddy Dean, Jerry Dean, and Larry Dean.
Joan is survived by her loving grandchildren: Stephanie Stewart Hubbard and husband Anthony of Fayetteville, NC; Jessica Stewart Gore and husband Matthew of Port Republic, MD; and Michael Stewart and fiancée Ashley Wright of Cobb Island, MD. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Madelyn Hubbard, Ashlyn Hubbard, Rylee Gore, and Landon Gore; her sister-in-law Joyce Dean; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, located at 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646.
Joan will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
