Joan Joyce Vake
Joan Joyce Vake, 93, of Chisholm, died Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm.
She was born on August 5, 1931, in Thief River Falls to Casper and Susan (Althoff) Wiener. Joan married Andrew A. Vake June on 17, 1950. She was a longtime resident of Chisholm since 1952. Joan worked as a baker for the former Chisholm Bakery and Sunrise Bakery in Hibbing.
She enjoyed crafting, painting, sewing, gardening, bingo, visiting with family and attending family get togethers.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Joan) Vake and Diana Stone, two granddaughters, Amy (Tim) Kalisch, Andrea (Derek) Minnehan, four great-grandchildren: Ella and Paige Kalisch, Garrett and Ivy Minnehan; sister Doreen Dargon, brother Jerome Wiener, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 7 siblings.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Heritage Manor Staff for the excellent care & support given to our mother & to us, over the last 5 years. Mom loved you all.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Copeman & the Hospice staff for the excellent care given to our mother the past few months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chisholm. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the Mass, with Fr. Paul Strommer celebrating. Interment will be in Chisholm Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chisholm.
