Joan Wehner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zacherl Funeral Home - Fond du Lac on Jan. 7, 2026.
Joan Annette Wehner (Topp) passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, with family by her side.
Born December 16, 1960, in Fond du Lac, Joan was the youngest of seven children born to Dorothy M. (Weber) and Lavern Harold "Bud" Topp. Her love of animals began at a young age, with her favorites being her horse, Star, and Boston Terrier, Spike. In 1983, she married her high school sweetheart, John Wehner, with whom she had two children.
She devoted her life to nursing, enjoying a long career helping patients navigate their health journeys in important ways, caring for those in need, and always making her coworkers and colleagues laugh along the way.
Joan's favorite times were family gatherings at her home, surrounded by her siblings, children, and grandchildren. Throughout her life, she adored her pet dogs and cats, who she treated like members of the family. She was a skilled baker and home chef, crafting all manner of delicious dishes from scratch and then insisting it only took her a few minutes to whip together. Her family and friends will remember her as a kind and gentle soul who loved to laugh, enjoyed the simple things, and never lost her sense of humor. She will be dearly missed.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Gary; her brother-in-law Billy Wiggins; and her first husband John. She is survived by her children Michael Wehner (Marina) and Nora Roxbury (Dan); her grandchildren Lydia Joan Roxbury, Pierce Roxbury, and Easton Schmidt (whom she affectionately called 'Cubby'); her siblings Nancy Albertin (Jim), Linda Wiggins, Jenn Topp, Judy Michels (Leonard), and Greg Topp; and nieces Whitney Henning, Marie Morse (Jimmy), and Sara Michels.
A memorial celebration will be held at a later date, with family and friends to be notified.
Joan's family would like to thank the staff of St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth for their thoughtful care of Joan.
