Joan Wright, 74, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, at her home with family members at her side. Joan was born on June 16, 1950, in Hartford, Alabama. She was a 1968 graduate of Tavares High School. She retired in 2015, after 30 years with the Lake County School Board.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, and shopping. She loved her clothes, shoes, jewelry, and her friends in family. She was a strong, hard-headed and kind person (unless you crossed her).
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Elma and Rex Strickland, her brother Jimmie Strickland, and her nephew Daryl Strickland.
She is survived by her husband, Stan Wright, her daughters Rebecca Dodd (Dwight), and Nikki Wright, her grandson Christopher Dodd, her niece Julianna Hall (Nathan), her great nieces Lucy and Lily Hall, and her nephew John David Strickland.
The family wishes to thank the following, who were involved with her care during her battle with lung cancer: Candace Soto, Dr. Jason Smith, Dr. Jonathan Schroeder, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hazzouri, Dr. Shivam Kharod, her hospital husbands, the staff at Florida Cancer Specialists, and Cornerstone Hospice.
The family will receive visitors at Steverson, Hamlin, and Hilbish on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 5:30PM - 7:00PM. A Graveside Gathering will be at Tavares Cemetery on Thursday October 24, 2024 at 10:00AM
