Joan G. Wright, 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, died Sunday, June 29, 2025, surrounded by her daughters Deborah Wright and Linda Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George B. Wright and her sons-in-law, Lowell Seaberg and Joseph Clark.
Joan was born in Brooklyn, NY to Elsa and Andrew Gill. As a girl, Joan shared her father's love of boating on the Bay in Patchogue, New York. She attended PS 53 and then Kew Forest before studying biology at Hood College. She enjoyed various sports including field hockey, tennis and bowling.
Joan played the piano by ear, enjoyed gardening and later in life played competitive Bridge. Joan and George were fortunate to enjoy world travel during their retirement years.
Joan had a strong and independent nature. In 2007, Joan won her battle with Lymphoma.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Joan's caregivers at Masonic Homes of Louisville and to Hosparus Health of Louisville for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Saturday, July 12th, at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Ln., Louisville, KY 40207. A private graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or Hosparus Health of Louisville.
