JoAnn Armstrong

JoAnn Armstrong, of Seabrook, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 in Nassau Bay, Texas at the age of 88. She was born on August 5, 1937 in Houston, Texas to William and Eva Rightmer.

Our mother always had a passion for traveling, especially with the special man in her life, Dale. For many years, they enjoyed exploring new places together. No matter where they went, they never missed hosting a holiday for family and friends. Family was everything to her, and she cherished every moment shared-whether with her loved ones or with her dear friends at church. She looked forward to volunteering for any event the church offered and loved the fellowship it brought.

When it came to hobbies, she was always the first to raise her hand for a fishing trip. Even though she couldn't swim, she'd still be the first one on the boat, excited and ready to go. And as much as she loved travel, her very first stop was always the casino-you practically had to drag her away from the slot machines.

Spending time with her family was her greatest priority. Whether attending a birthday party or simply stopping by to say hello, she made sure to be present. If you called, she came-no hesitation. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved them to the moon and back. She and Grangran cherished hosting the annual Christmas-time slumber party, a tradition the grandchildren looked forward to every year. And when they grew older and had children of their own, the great-grandbabies joyfully carried on the tradition with Mimi and Grangran.

She supported her family in every way she could-whether offering financial help, lending a shoulder, or wiping away a tear. Her presence, her comfort, and her unwavering love are what we will miss most.

She truly served her community throughout her life. She worked with the Chamber of Commerce in League City, Dickinson, Alvin, and Katy, earning multiple lifetime awards recognizing her dedication. Before that, she retired from Southwestern Bell in 1987 after more than 35 years of service. She loved her work, she loved her community, and she loved every opportunity to help others.

Her legacy is one of love, service, family, and unwavering devotion. And that is how we will remember her, always.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Dale Armstrong, son DeWayne King, parents William and Eva Rightmer, brothers Ray Righter and Raymond Kirby Gates and sister Mary Blanche McIntyer.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters Marissa Stidham and husband Steven, Melanie Bass, Cindy Callihan and husband Mitch, daughter in law Susan White King, brother Thomas Edwin "Bud" Rightmer, sister Barbara Holland, grandchildren Cali Tyler, Corey Tyler, Chelsea Walton, Joseph Walton, Colt Bass, Monique Bass, Chasen Stidham, Sibohan Stidham, Justin Stidham, Katrina Stidham, Courtney Henry, Justin Henry, Corey Callihan, Brittany Callihan, and great grand children Amaiya, Mason, Ryatt, Kaila, Josie, Peyton, Anzley, Cameron, Elliott, Everly, Charlie, Kaylee, Autumn and Case.

The Family will welcome friends on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 8:00am with a Ceremony at 8:30am at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573.

Interment will follow at 10:15am at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.
