Joann Marie Carroll, age 89 of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away from this life to begin her eternal life in Heaven on Monday, September 12, 2022. Joann was born in Akron, Ohio, on August 17, 1933, the daughter of Robert Arthur Jenner and Marie Annette (Jackson) Jenner. Joann was a kind, outgoing, and caring person who was always positive, happy, and smiling. Joann was a wonderful wife to her husband Oscar, as well as an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. She will be deeply missed.
Joann was a loyal and dedicated military spouse, who felt it was an honor to be a military wife. Joann had the opportunity to travel the world often with her husband, Oscar. While Oscar was stationed in Thailand, Joann became very active in the community, teaching English to the young Thai children there for just under three years. She was especially delighted when she had the opportunity to meet the king and queen of Thailand.
Joann moved to Moore with her family in 1975 where she worked for about three years as an accountant for DUB Stone Construction company, as well as for the Dolese Bros. corporation. She was also very active in her community. She was a devout woman of faith who was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Moore, and was an active member of the Circle of Love group. She was also a longtime member and Treasurer of the Oklahoma Mineral and Gem Society, along with her husband, Oscar, who was President. She actively and selflessly volunteered her time throughout the years to local hospitals, charities, and telethons.
Mostly, Joann valued time spent with those she loved. She was the family caretaker, always ensuring those in her life were safe, fed, and most importantly, felt happy and loved. She truly enjoyed being with her friends and family, and she adored playing games with her loved ones, being particularly fond of card games like Bridge, Skipbo, Canasta, and Pinochle. She was the family cook and baker as well, known for her incredible desserts and delicious Mexican food. Joann always enjoyed her time in the kitchen which was made even more special with her family's help and conversation.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar Lee Carroll, and her parents, Robert and Marie Jenner. Left to treasure her memory are three children, son Steven Carroll and his wife, Tammy, and daughters Cynthia Young, and Deborah McDaniel and her husband, Ira; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, Robert Jenner, one sister, Barbra Twitchell, and many other loving extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel in Moore on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 10:00am through 8:30pm, with family receiving visitors from 6:00-8:00pm. Graveside services begin at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Oklahoma.

It was of great grief that I learned of Joann's passing from this earthly life to that great realm just beyond the sunset! Joann and Oscar were close friends of ours for all the years we were members of the Oklahoma Mineral and Gem Society. Norma and I took numerous rockhound trips to places like Quartzsite, and Tuscon, Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas, and many rock and mineral shows throughout several states. They were always fun to be with, and we experienced many happy adventures together. Oscar was the best channel inlay artist I ever knew. He made several pieces of inlay for us. Not long after he passed, I lost Norma to a sudden heart failure, and somewhat lost track of Joann. She was always cheerful, and she and Norma always kept Oscar and I well fed during our travels. May your family be blessed by the great memories I'm certain you cherish.
