Joann R. Cribbs

Joann Brouhard Cribbs, age 75, went home to be with Jesus on July 13, 2020. Joann was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Brouhard. She was born in Indianapolis, and graduated from Southport High School in 1963. She attended Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, IL, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. After teaching second grade in the Greenwood School System, Joann became the mother of Susan Cribbs Croissant (Bruce) of Bargersville, IN, and David Cribbs (Rebecca) of Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by her husband, Richard Cribbs of 52 years, and six wonderful grandchildren; Lauren and Andrew Croissant of Bargersville IN, and Caroline, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Matthew Cribbs of Indianapolis. Her sister, Jeannie Heckler (David) and niece, Allison Gilmore (Paul) also survive. Joann LOVED planning family dinners and fun events for her family. The children and grandchildren's activities were purely delightful for her. A lifelong church member, her organizational skills were fully used for many assignments in churches. She faithfully served as a choir member, directed VBS, taught Sunday School classes, planned numerous church events and concerts. She and her husband, Dick, served for 25 years as shepherds and head shepherds while caring for church members. Joann created and edited training materials, creatively taught and recruited new shepherds. She served for five years on the staff of Community Church of Greenwood as the Director of Shepherding. She was part of the start up staff of Senior Helpers in Greenwood. Joann's visitation will be Monday, July 20 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. at LifePoint Church, 8540 Combs Road, Indianapolis. Pastor L. Dean Jones will officiate. Due to COVID-19, masks will be required in the church building. Arrangements are in the care of Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, Indianapolis.
