Joann Marie Dunn, daughter of Carol and Anna Marie (Morrissey) Beatty, was born June 16, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska. Joann grew up and attended elementary school in Peru, Nebraska. Joann then attended Auburn High School, graduating with the class of 1981.
On February 8, 1982, Joann was united in marriage to Patrick Dunn in Auburn. The couple would be blessed with two sons, Matthew and Wyatt. Joann and Pat made their home in Brownville, Nebraska.
In October of 1989, Joann graduated from Joseph’s College of Beauty. Joann then opened up Family Hair Design, a business she successfully ran for 33 years, making many friends along the way.
Joann loved swimming, water skiing, scuba diving, and anything to do with water. She was also quite the green thumb, growing many beautiful plants and tending to her flower beds.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Joann passed away at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri on Thursday, May 22, 2025, having reached the age of 61 years, 11 months, and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to mourn her passing include her husband Patrick of Brownville; sons and daughters-in-law Matthew and Tammie Dunn of Peru, Wyatt and Katherine Dunn of Orcutt, CA; granddaughters Keira Belle White of Columbus, Britnee Hart of Chicago, IL, Hannah Curry and great-granddaughter Everly Tanner of Omaha; siblings Charles (Verissa) Beatty of Estes Park, CO, Julie (Brad) Lockhart of Pinetop, AZ, Theresa (Kyle) Krissel of Hastings, MN, Peter (Charity) Morrissey of Omaha, Kelly (Sixto) Vasquez of Omaha; aunt Geraldine Morrissey of Omaha; mother-in-law Joyce Dunn of Brownville; brothers-in-law John Dunn of Brownville, Rick Jones of Glenwood, IA, Jeff Dunn of Brownville; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many wonderful friends.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 29, 11:00 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Brownville. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 5:00 to 7:00
