JoAnn McReynolds Easterling, 82, of San Angelo, passed away with the assistance of Hospice of San Angelo on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
JoAnn was born on December 20, 1942 to Perry T McReynolds and Jewel Melton McReynolds in Cuero. After JoAnn graduated from Sonora High School, she went on to become a Dental Hygienist and then later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing obtaining her RN License which she held for many years.
In 1964, JoAnn married Tom Easterling and they had 58 years of marriage together before he passed in 2023. Tom and JoAnn went on to have two children.
JoAnn loved animals of all kinds and was especially fond of horses. She volunteered with Sonrisas in San Angelo for many years to assist with therapeutic riding for individuals with disabilities. This volunteer work was sparked early on in her life as she was a member and also served as the President of the Women's Auxiliary at Odessa Medical Center in Odessa, Texas. Her leadership in this role allowed the Women's Auxiliary to purchase and donate some of the first high tech cardiac monitoring equipment for Odessa Medical Center. After they moved to San Angelo, JoAnn went back to school and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Angelo State University. She practiced nursing at Angelo Community Hospital and then served in the home health arena providing Administrative support for medically fragile people to receive care in their homes. She worked in this area of nursing until she retired. JoAnn's love of animals was her greatest joy. She was never without a few cats and dogs around and the occasional goat. Any stray was always welcomed. One of the things that made her the happiest was the love and companionship of all of her little fur babies.
JoAnn was predeceased by her husband Tom Easterling, her father, Perry T McReynolds and her mother, Jewel Melton McReynolds, and her older brother, Richard McReynolds of Wyoming. She is survived by her daughter, Kimm Ferrell and husband Scott of Abilene; and her son, Brian Easterling and wife Alisa of Abilene; five grandchildren and step grandchildren, Tanner Easterling, Alex Easterling, Rader Ferrell and wife Brittany, and Juddson Ferrell; several nieces and nephews.
