Joann Alice Guity

With profound sadness and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Joan A. Guity, who departed this life at the age of 68.

Joan was born on August 16, 1957, in La Ceiba, Honduras, to the late Lloyde and Edith Robinson. In 1969, she migrated to Boston, Massachusetts, where she was raised and completed her education. Boston became not only her home, but the community she faithfully serves for many years.

Following in her mother's footsteps, Joan began her career in the medical field at Long Island Hospital, working alongside her mother. She also worked at the Mattapan Hospital before joining the team at Boston Medical Center in the Pediatric Emergency Department, where she dedicated many years of compassionate service to children and families throughout the city. Her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike. Joan retired from Boston Medical Center in 2013 after many years of devoted service to her community.

Above all, Joan cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to Arthur Robinson (wife Marlayna) and David Guity (wife Vaneshia). Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her five beloved grandchildren: Arianna Guity, A 'Mara Henry-Guity, Dereon Guity, Arlanah Robinson, and Arthur Jr. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Amari Henry-Trinida, who brought immense pride and happiness to her life.

After retiring, Joan embraced life with joy and adventure. She especially enjoyed traveling with her eldest son Arthur and his family to destinations such as Florida (with all the grand children), the Grand Cayman Islands, and Aruba, creating treasured memories along the way. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren. She delighted in spoiling them with special shopping trips to Marshalls in Cobb Corner, simple moments that became cherished traditions filled with laughter and love.

Joan was affectionately known by many names that reflected the love surrounding her - Ma, Mommy, Boggie, Nana, Nan's the Gram, Ma Guity, Joani, and Joanne. Each name carried its own special meaning, spoken by those who cherished her most.

Joan also leaves behind her loving siblings: Norma Robinson, Lloyde (Junior) Robinson and Janet Robinson. She was preceded in death by her brother Henry Trustey, in addition to her beloved parents, Lloyde and Edith Robinson. She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory always.

Joan will be remembered for her strength, resilience, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy of care, compassion, and generosity will continue through the generations she leaves behind.

Though she is no longer with us in body, Joan's love remains everlasting in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
