JoAnn (Thomas) Harr, 80, of Jeannette, died Sunday, January 11, 2026, in the Westmoreland Hospital. She was born August 08, 1945, in Plattsburgh, NY, a daughter of the late Hans B. and Patricia M. Fitzgerald Thomas.
JoAnn was a member of the first graduating class of Greensburg Central Catholic High School in 1963. She then graduated from Mt. Aloysius College in 1965 with a teaching degree and taught second grade for the Catholic school in York PA followed by teaching at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral School for two years. Her love of learning was only surpassed by her love of taking care of her husband and daughter and their home. She was proud to have graduated in 1992 from Seton Hill College alongside her daughter Beth. JoAnn was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. With her love of dogs, she raised many generations of Vizsla’s since 1981. She was the past President and present board member of the Bushy Run Kennel Club, where she also served many years as the Club Show Chairman. She was a board member of the Western PA Kennel Association of Pittsburgh. She was also a founding member of the Westmoreland County Obedience and Training Club located in Delmont.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifty-six years, E. David Harr; her beloved daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Harr (fiancé, Dean Tola); cherished granddaughter, Faith Harr-Krazel, who lovingly gave her the nickname, Gemma; siblings, Daniel Thomas (Carol) of Greensburg, Patrick Thomas (Sue) of Hannastown and Christine Thomas of Hempfield Township; brother in law, Gregory Harr of Pleasant Unity; two nieces and a nephew; and her adored AKC Vizsla's, Gordon, Brick and Rudy.
Relatives and friends of JoAnn will be received Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Everyone please go directly to the Church.
Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
