Joann S. Troja

Joann S. Troja, 91, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 9:08 AM at Birkwood Village in Ft. Madison.

She was born on July 7, 1934 in Ft. Madison to Aloysis "Al" and Agnes Pollmeier Bohnenkamp. On July 4, 1956 she married Robert J. Troja and he passed away on June 18, 1990. Joann worked in retail at several businesses in the area. Joann was a member of Holy Family Parish. She enjoyed traveling, going to yard sales and playing cards. Joann was always ready to have fun and looked forward to her daily happy hours with her daughters. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Stephen (Kim) Troja of Grimes; three daughters, Barabara (Rick) Grabowski of Ft. Madison, Mary (Joaquin Molina) Troja of Jacksonville, NC; Julie (Earl) Albers of Ft. Madison; five grandchildren, Ben and Jake Troja, Adam, Alex and Joseph Grabowski; six great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Bohnenkamp of Ft. Madison and one sister-in-law, Jeanette Bohnenkamp of Ft. Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Delbert Bohnenkamp and her longtime companion, Bud Bentler.

Cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial mass will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
