JoAnn R. Vickstrom

Negaunee, MI - JoAnn Rae Vickstrom, age 73, longtime Negaunee resident, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.
JoAnn was born in Ishpeming, on November 17, 1950, a daughter of the late Ethel E. (Pascoe) and Raymond W. Niemi. She grew up in Negaunee and was a graduate of the Negaunee High School, Class of 1968. Jo worked as a lumber grader at the Robbins Flooring Mill in Ishpeming for 15 years, and then at Unique Treasures in the Country Village for nearly 10 years.
Jo liked to test her luck at the area Casino's. She had been known to pass her time doing String Art, Knitting or Crocheting. In the summer, she was always up for a trip to the woods to pick blueberries.
Jo is survived by her significant other of the past 21years - William M. Holm of Negaunee, a daughter, Tara (Joel) Heribacka of Sheboygan, WI, two sons Jared (Betty) Vickstrom of Champion and Joel (Sarah) Vickstrom of Ishpeming, 3 step-children, Wendi Holm and Bill Holm both of Negaunee and Valeri (Jon) Bast of Hazelhurst, WI, two sisters, Peggy Heikkinen and Kim Niemi both of Ishpeming, 8 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters along with several nieces and nephews. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Robin DeMerse, infant brother Raymond Niemi and an infant sister Debbie Niemi.
Per Jo's wishes cremation has taken place. A private interment will take place in the Spring of 2024 at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
JoAnn's family wishes to thank the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
