Joann Nell (Ketchum) Walker, 79, of Marinette, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born on June 8, 1946 to the late Bill and Nell Ketchum in Menominee, MI.
She married Mark Walker on October 29, 2004 in Texas. They resided there for many years before moving back to the Marinette area. Mark was a devoted husband and loving partner throughout their 21 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and playing cards with friends.
Joann was known for her generous heart and her willingness to help anyone in need. Her compassion for others shown through in many ways throughout her life, whether it was fostering children or welcoming foreign exchange students into her home. She formed lasting friendships with many of them, and even traveled abroad to visit their families.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Joanne loved playing cards with her friends and never missed a Sunday smear tournament. She also enjoyed sewing, playing any kind of games and occasionally trying her luck at the casino.
Joann Is survived by her husband, Mark; her three children: Scott (Tammy) Lentz, Tammy (Marty) Bouche and Terri (Rick) Neumann; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; stepchildren Kari White and Matt Walker; 3 step grandchildren; sister Nancy (Don) Kapla and brother Ron (Pat) Ketchum and several nieces and nephews. Also, special foster daughter, Patty Jobson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jay and her brother Billy Ketchum.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 31, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (1600 University Drive, Marinette) from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am with Pastor Nick Johannes officiating.
Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home is serving the family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joann's "on call girl", Pat, for her loving care and friendship throughout the years. Joanne had many cherished friends who were there for her in time of need, especially Carol and Linda.
Joann will be remembered for her compassion, her laughter and her deep love for family and friends. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
