Our beloved mother, JoAnne Dewey, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on August 22, 2025. She was born on July 16, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to Joseph and Carmela Arcuri. She grew up in Maryland, where she graduated from LaReine High School. JoAnne had a great career as a writer for the U. S. Census Bureau. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her dog, Jax. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dewey, and her father, Joseph Arcuri. She is survived by her daughter, Carmela Windsor of Annapolis, MD; her son, Joseph (Taylor) Dewey of Severn, MD; her mother, Carmela Arcuri of Riva, MD; her sisters, RoseMary (Albert) DeCesaris of Riva, MD, Mary (Thomas deceased) Vendemia of Annapolis, MD, Elizabeth Arcuri of North Haldon, NJ, and Carmela (Donald) Willingham of Annapolis, MD.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate JoAnne's life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:30 – 11:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Interment to follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in JoAnne's memory to the Celebrate Hope Foundation, 3541 Russell Thomas Lane, Davidsonville, MD. 21035, or you may donate online
