Joanne Lyons

Joanne C. Lyons, nee Clair, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home on Friday, December 6, 2024 at the age of 97 years. She was born December 3, 1927 in Chicago to the late J. Emmett and Mary Catherine (nee Trehy) Clair.
After graduating high school, Joanne went on to attend St. Mary's College, earning her bachelor's degree and graduating in 1949.
On August 30, 1952, she was united in marriage to John C. Lyons at Christ the King Church in Chicago. John predeceased November 18, 2011.
She was a loving mother to 7: John C. (Mary Pat), Joseph E. (Karen), the late David G. (Jackie), Maggie (Mark) Kochevar, Michael E., Kevin T. (Linda) and Robert C. (Peggy); treasured grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; also survived by sister-in-law Geneva Lyons, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, son and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Emily Lyons, sisters Catherine Clair, Geraldine Gilboy, brother J. Edward Clair, sister-in-law Mary Manion and brother-in-law Edward Lyons.
The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation on Wednesday, December 11 from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Private burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery.
The family asks that in memory of Joanne, donations be made to Holy Angels School Trust Fund.
