Joanne Mazzarella Poole, 78, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service to honor Joanne’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 12th at Refuge Fellowship Church, officiated by Pastor Manley Rose Jr. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 11th at the Church. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Joanne was born on March 7, 1946, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Joseph and Louise Mazzarella. A cherished member of Refuge Fellowship Church, Joanne devoted her life to faith, family and service to others. She dedicated 26 years of her career to Billy’s Best Supermarket, where you could always find her working with a warm smile. Later Joanne served as a caretaker for over 20 years.
Joanne was a woman who loved feasting on crab legs and oysters, listening to Elvis Presley, and cherishing moments with her beloved son, daughter-in-love, granddaughter, and great-grandson. Vacations to Myrtle Beach or a boat ride to Wade Shore made her heart happy. Her church family held a special place in her heart. Joanne was full of life and never met a stranger. To know her was to love her. She will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Keith Moore Jr. (Lisa) of Beaufort; grandchildren, Faith Frankel (Josh) of Beaufort; great-grandson, Cole Frankel; brother-in-law, Danny Lewis of Harkers Island; special niece, Dani Jo Taylor (Harry Jr.) of Sea Level; and great-nieces, Isabella Taylor and Susanne Taylor.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hardwick Poole Jr.; son, Robert “Bobby” Wayne Moore; and sister, Susan Mazzarella Lewis.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Refuge Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 280, Harkers Island, NC 28531.
