Joanne Linden Pyle passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025 at the Silverado Memory Care Community in
Alexandria, VA. She was 71 years old.
Joanne was born on September 19, 1954 in
Arlington, VA to Joseph and Joyce Linden. She grew up with her three brothers and attended Bishop O'Connell High School before graduating from Wakefield High School in 1974. She then attended Virginia Tech, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. After returning to Northern Virginia, Joanne began her professional career as a management consultant for A.T. Kearney, Inc.
In 1982, Joanne married Harlen Pyle and moved to Chicago, Illinois where she continued her professional life working for the American Medical Association. In 1987, the family returned to Alexandria which remained her home for the rest of her life.
During this time, she devoted 18 years of service to the city of Alexandria, working with the Alexandria City Council. She was also especially proud of her time as Chair of the Alexandria Commission on Women where she advocated on issues important to the women of Alexandria. Joanne also cherished the countless hours spent supporting the many sports teams and activities of her two children, Bryce and Cassie.
Joanne was the heart, bond, and guiding light of her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Harlen; her son, Bryce Pyle of Alexandria; her daughter, Cassie Veatch, of Wellesley, Massachusetts; and her four grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom and David. She is preceded in death by her brother Paul, and her parents.
In recognition of Joanne's wonderful life, there will be a celebration of life on February, 21 from 6-9 p.m. at the Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria. All who knew Joanne are welcome to join us.
