"Loving mother and grandmother"
WATERBURY - Joanne (Namura) Sherman, age 91, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Joanne was born on May 8, 1934 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Kachergus) Namura. She was educated at Waterbury Catholic High School and a graduate of University of Connecticut. She was the School Food Service Director for the City of Waterbury. She devoted her life to her work, community, church, and family. Joanne was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church serving as minister of the Eucharist and lector, CYO leader, confirmation class teacher and advisor, and worked with the Shepard's Kitchen.
Left to cherish her memory and honor Joanne's love and legacy are her daughter Roseanne Sherman of Cyprus, Jeanine James and her husband Paul of Windsor, Anna-Marie Cartagena and her husband Gene of West Haven. She was blessed with 1 granddaughter, Andrea Penta and her husband Seth Schein. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel J. Sherman.
Arrangements: Funeral Services for Mrs. Sherman will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Blessed Sacrament Church. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at church. Per Joanne's request, please wear bright colors to church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway is assisting her family with arrangements.
