Joanne Speach Obituary

surrounded by her family. She was born on August 22, 1939 and her parents were May and T. Louis Powell. Joanne graduated from The Convent School in 1956 and
LeMoyne College in 1960. She was a native and lifelong resident of Syracuse, NY
and a daily communicant at St. Daniel and Holy Cross Church.
Joanne was a very active volunteer with various organizations throughout
her life. She served as president of the Mary and Martha Society of St
Daniel Church, president of the Christian Brothers Academy Mothers
Club, president of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and she was the first
president of the Francis House Auxiliary.
Joanne is survived by her loving husband Norman of 63 years; her five children, Dr. David (Dr. Elissa) Speach, Mrs. Lisa (Stephen) Abbe, Mr. Brian (Theresa) Speach, Miss Pamela Speach, Dr. Erica (Bryan) Menar; her grandchildren, Dr. Gabby (Sherif) Girgis, Joseph (Dr. Mary Eve) Speach, Hannah Speach, Clarie Speach, Daniel Abbe, Christopher Speach, Kevin Speach, Sophia Menar, Michael Menar, Thomas Menar, Nicholas Menar
and Maria Menar; her great grandchildren, Mary, Lucy and Peter Girgis; her brother-in-law, Ronald Speach and her niece Christa Speach.
A special thanks to the physicians, nurses and support staff at St
Joseph's emergency room and 2nd floor palliative care team for the
kind and compassionate care they provided during her illness.
Calling hour will be 10 am Saturday, November 9 at St. Daniel Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Entombment
will follow at St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dewitt NY,
In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made in Joanne's honor to Francis House and St. Daniel Church.
