I don't know how anyone could bring hospitality to a zoom meeting, but that is what Joanne did. Whenever I joined our Mussar zoom meeting, I was always hoping to see Joanne's lovely face. I always felt at home when she was part of the zoom for the day. She was and her memory will always be a reminder that we can share the Divine spark wherever we may be. I loved her and love her still. Wynndi (fellow Mussar student)

Joanne was a vibrant member of the American Mussar community. She was a regular in our weekly zoom meetings starting in March 2020.
She always had an opinion, and was not shy about sharing her Mussar journey. There were many stories about her driving, often in connection with her struggles to Honor other drivers. She said she would sometimes "comment" at another driver, and then say "Sorry Hashem."
Joanne stayed with us through a recurrence of her cancer, and taught the group how prayer helped her beat it twice. "You need to be very clear with Hashem what you want." Many of us said healing prayers for Joanne, as did her strong community at Anshe Shalom. Joanne was president of the sisterhood, and told us that Mussar helped her immensely in that role.
Joanne's warm heart and insightful comments are already greatly missed. Her presence was a blessing, and may her memory continue to be so. Rabbi Greg Marcus
