Joaquim Goncalves

Joaquim Silva Goncalves Jr., age 34, of North Haven passed away from his injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, on September 8, 2025. He was born in Bridgeport, CT the son of Joaquim Goncalves Sr. of Wallingford and Angela Jean Silva of Bridgeport.

Joaquim is also survived by his longtime partner, Jill Bailey of North Haven, his siblings Natalia Goncalves, Miguel Silva, Angelina Silva, Sabrina Goncalves, Jordan Goncalves, Gabrielle Butler, Corina Pearce, his stepparents Sherri Baker and Cleveland Pearce, his grandmother Amariles Fernandes Goncalves, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents David Paul and Anne Hughes Silva, his fraternal grandfather Manuel Goncalves Sr., and his siblings Joshua Joaquim Tenn and Amariles Goncalves.

Joaquim lived his life full of adventure and on his own terms. He was an avid Broncos and Red Sox fan. For those he loved, he loved deeply and protected. He would give the shirt off his back and do anything for those he cared for. Compassionate, caring and full of jokes (even if you didn't think it was as funny as he did). He enjoyed time relaxing at home and playing with his furry companions Ellie and Halo.

A special thank you to the amazing staff at Yale New Haven Hospital for their compassionate care, kindness and support provided. Especially to his nurses Erin, Michele, and Kathryn, his PCA Anais during his time in the SICU 6-1 for the impeccable care they provided.

A celebration of Joaquim's Life will be celebrated on October 4th from 12noon – 4:00pm at his father's home, 610 S. Elm St. Wallingford. Wallingford Funeral Home 809 N. Main St. Ext. Wallingford has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers for those who wish to express sympathy, please consider making a donation in Joaquim's name to your favorite charity.
