Jody Cregier Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Jody W. Cregier, age 76, of St Charles, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Edward Hospital in Naperville with her loving family by her side.
She was born September 20, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Wanita (Beyer) Gozy and grew up in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago and attended Lakeview High School.
Jody met her husband Ron while in high school at a bowling alley in 1967 through mutual friends. Ron was on a bowling league with his friend Don and his girlfriend Kathy brought her friend Jody. Ron and Jody dated for 2 years after that.
In 1969, Ron was drafted for the Vietnam War, the same time he and Jody were planning to get married. He received a deployment extension so they could get married as planned on August 23, 1969, and 30 days later, Ron was sent to training then to Nha-Trang, Vietnam. Jody stayed at home while Ron was deployed and worked in a clerical position in the meantime.
Jody stayed home to raise her girls and to fill her downtime she started to sell Avon in the 80's. She also indulged in her creative talents by taking ceramic classes in the evenings which led her to join the Glendale Heights Junior Women's Club (GHJWC). Jody served on many committees and co-chaired the annual craft auction which was their main fundraiser. She was involved with the GHJWC for many years which led to life long friendships.
Jody's artistic talents started with basic sewing. She had made clothes for her sister, matching clothes for her daughters, wedding dress for her sister in law, her daughters homecoming/prom dresses, and various home decor. Her love of sewing transitioned into the complex world of quilting. She was a member of the Prairie Star Quilt Guild (PSQG). During her time in the Guild she had entered many competitions and won several awards for her designs.
After Ron's retirement, Ron and Jody traveled all over the US and Canada. They liked to take road trips to various national parks, a drive along the east coast which also led to an Alaskan Cruise which was one of their last trips. Jody loved her souvenirs and acquired quite the pin collection that any collector would be envious of.
Following various health issues which led her to being wheelchair bound, she discovered a new love for reading. She also enjoyed her TV shows, mainly the sci-fi and horror genre.
Jody had a kind heart and had a great sense of humor. She loved her grandchildren "her babies" and enjoyed taking them out on various adventures to spend time with them. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by daughters Cori (Paul) Wollenberg of St. Charles and Beth (Darryl Lovesey) Cregier of St. Charles; grandchildren Sophia and Brandon Wollenberg and Jordan and Taylor Lovesey; siblings Jamie Gozy and Jayne (Carlos) Ortiz; and many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald, parents, and grandson Aaron Lovesey.
A visitation for Jody will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 2:00 pm until the time of her memorial service at 3:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street, Geneva.
