Jody Ann Hunt, a cherished mother, grandmother, and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, in Matthews, North Carolina. Born on October 31, 1960, in Jamestown, NY, Jody’s life was marked by an unwavering faith and a profound love for her family.
A proud graduate of Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Jody earned her Bachelor's degree in Nursing dedicating her life to caring for others. Her compassion extended not only to the many patients she served but also to all living beings, as she had a special affinity for animals. Known for her strong Christian faith, Jody illustrated the essence of love and kindness through her daily actions and interactions.
Jody's vibrant spirit shone even in the face of adversity. For a year and a half, she courageously battled pancreatic cancer, showing a strength that inspired everyone who knew her. Even in her struggles, her faith and love never wavered; she remained a beacon of hope and resilience for her family and friends.
She was married to her loving husband, David Hunt, with whom she shared many joyful adventures. Together, they traveled extensively, finding joy in discovering new places and creating cherished memories. As a devoted mother, she found endless delight in her children; Bethany Keller and her husband Will, Lauren Beatty and her husband Joey, Abbey Kirkland and her husband Josh, and Spencer Hunt. Each of them carried a piece of her heart and spirit with them.
Jody was especially proud of her role as “Grammy” to her beloved grandchildren: Keagen, Benjamin, Quincy, Emery, Noah, Jett, Max, Pierce, and Briggs. She devoted her time to decorating their lives with warmth and affection, ensuring that family gatherings brimmed with laughter and love.
Jody is lovingly remembered by her husband, David; her children; and her grandchildren, along with a host of friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Eva Hallsen; father, James Hallsen; and brother, Jeff.
Visitation will be held at Hopewell Baptist Legacy Campus in Monroe, NC, on October 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service in her honor beginning at 11:00 AM.
Jody Ann Hunt’s legacy of love, faith, and dependability will remain etched in the hearts of those she touched. Her life, though too short, was a testament to the beauty of compassion, family, and the power of a strong bond with God. She will be forever missed and remembered with love.
