Dr. Joe S. Green, affectionately known as "The Bayou Bishop," was born on May 20, 1940, and peacefully departed this life on February 20, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by his beloved family at his residence.

He is now reunited with the love of his life, his cherished wife, Josephine Green, who passed just five months prior. Dr. Green's devotion to his family was unwavering, and their bond remained a testament to love and partnership.

As the Pastor Emeritus of St. Matthew Baptist Church, Dr. Green was a true pillar of the Central Louisiana community. He was a friend and mentor to countless individuals, providing spiritual guidance and support to all who sought it. His influence extended far beyond the pulpit, as he dedicated his life to promoting Christianity wherever he went.

Dr. Green's influence transcended state lines, where his work touched many hearts and uplifted entire communities. During uncertain times, he was a steady rock, demonstrating what it meant to be a servant leader.

A Wake Service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at St. Matthew Baptist Church, located at 5605 Old Boyce Rd., Boyce, LA 71409, from 5 PM until 8 PM.

The Funeral Service and Celebration of Dr. Green's Life and Legacy will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Zion Hill Church Family, located at 312 Hunter Street, Pineville, LA 71360. A public viewing will begin at 8 AM, followed by the service at 10 AM.

Dr. Joe S. Green will be laid to rest in the St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
