Mrs. Joe Ann Thompson-Johnson passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Galveston, Texas, at the age of 75. Joe Ann was born April 22, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Annie Mae Collins-Frazier and James Thompson.

Joe Ann was educated in the Saginaw Public Schools. After graduation, she was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear for many years. Later, Joe Ann moved to LaMarque, Texas. Joe Ann was grounded in her beliefs. She was the head usher of Accepting God’s Favor Ministry and an O.E.S. Worthy Matron. Joe Ann had an unwavering faith in Jesus and expressed her love by playing the tambourine. Aside from praising God, Joe Ann enjoyed spending time with family and fishing.

Joe Ann leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Demuriel Thompson, LaMarque, Texas; and one son, Kevin O’Burton Jones Sr. (Roylena), Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Demonte Thompson, DeMichael (Brenda) Smothers, Steven Smothers, LaMarque, Texas; Kevin Jones Jr., Carl Cheers, Melvin Smothers, and Kalayia Jones, Saginaw, Michigan; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; aunt, Henreen (Willie) Robinson; many other relatives and friends including, Cinthia Boone, Janice Garth, Sonya Lampkin, Larrie Packard, Dee Boles, Willard Francois, and Margaret Huggins.

Joe Ann was preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson; parents, Annie Mae Collins-Frazier and James Thompson; brothers, LeAndre and Tyrone Thompson; sister, Ruth Ann Harris; and great-grandparents, Rebecca (Stanley) Collins; stepfather, JC Frazier; and stepmother, Betty Thompson.

The family would like to express special thanks to Youlanda (Marese) Belvin; Tyronza and Everett Harris.
