Joe Barbosa, born on September 4, 1934, in Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 90 in Mesquite, Texas. A dedicated family man, Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary Barbosa, and their two daughters, Margaret Hutson, Laura Talasek, and their respective husbands, Keith Hutson and Michael Talasek. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Sarah Talasek, Rebecca Kepple (Tyler), Matthew Hutson, and Emily Hutson.
Joe enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Santa Fe Railroad, where he devoted many years of hard work before retiring. He had a passion for music, dance, exercise and was an avid golfer. Joe's enthusiasm for life and commitment to maintaining an active lifestyle inspired those around him. He was an active member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church. He was a Fourth Degree Knight as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Joe loved sports especially football. From the lot in front of his house to Central Junior High, he became a Temple High School Wildcat proudly wearing number 27. He was also a proud member of the THS and Temple Junior College basketball teams and was a devoted Washington Redskins fan.
Throughout his life, Joe created countless memories with his family, sharing laughter, love, and invaluable lessons. His legacy will continue through the generations as his family remembers him not only for his strength and work ethic but also for his warmth and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Estanislao Barbosa and Francis Barbosa, his brother, Angel Barbosa, and his sister, Maria Rivera.
