Joseph Bizzell Jr. home going day was November 18, 2025, Joseph "Joe" Bizzell Jr. was born on March 16, 1937, the fourth child of Joseph and Catherine Bizzell Sr., in Coatopa, Alabama. Joe found faith in Jesus at an early age and was a member of Galilee Baptist Church. He was blessed with a wonderful spiritual voice and led the male choir in gospel singing.
Joe attended Alabama Tech earning a degree in engineering, which helped advance his career at General Motors, where he ultimately reached the position of Superintendent of Supervisors. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany in support of the Vietnam War.
Joe was an active sports fan and, also played and coached softball for many years. After retiring with more than 30 years of service at General Motors, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, catching up on old times, telling stories, and watching sports.
One of Joe's iconic phrases was "Are we clear?" A saying he often used when speaking to his daughter Chanta and his niece Serena about the do's and don'ts for young folks.
Joe was a devoted father, husband, and brother, and a friend to all-always lending a hand, offering his time, or providing a shoulder to lean on in times of need, helping to mentor and guide others through difficult situations.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbera; his brother, McKinney Bizzell; his sons, Darren Bizzell and Shawn McCall; his daughter, Chanta (Tony) Jones; and sons Ephraim Gladney and Marcell (Kristie) Bell; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Catherine Bizzell; his brothers, Will Bizzell, W.C. Bizzell, and Walt Bizzell; and his sister, Bertha Mae White, son Robert Clopton, Jr.
