John G. Luna

I'm sad to learn of Joe Brown´s passing. My name is John (Johnny) Luna and I live in Silver City. Joe and I were best friends when we were in elementary school in Central in the late forties [4th, 5th and 6th grades]. Joe lived with his grandmother and we lived nearby. He'd have supper with us frequently. In 1948 I lost my father in a mine accident in Vanadium. We moved to our home in Hillsboro and I continued school in Hot Springs (T or C). In 1955 the Hot Spring Tigers came to James Stadium to play the Western High Colts, I reconnected with Joe "literally" and I also met up with some of my other boyhood friends, Gene Gomez, Bobby Hatler, Paul Rodriguez, and I think one of the Brancheau brothers and others. They had a very strong team and they murdered us. I chose to not remember the final score. A lot of those guys are gone also. We went through a lot in our lifetime: several wars, a presidential assassination, man landing on the moon, making due without a lot of niceties. Good traveling buddies, those of us that remain are not far behind. See you again soon Joe.

Bridget and the Brown kids...
I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful dad. I have so many wonderful memories of our childhood at your dad´s house! You introduced me to Mexican food, big family dinners and deep sea fishing. I always envied you for having each other. I know how very loved your dad was by all of you. I´m sure he will be greatly missed. Love to all...Jean

Papa, you were so much more to me than a grandpa. You have been there with me and for me, my whole life, no matter what. You are one of the most loving, selfless, humble people I know. Thank you for always being there for me and always loving me no matter what I was going through in life. I´m a better person because of you and I miss you and love you so much <3
