Joe Collazo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts of Ocala West Chapel on Oct. 2, 2025.
Joe Collazo, a beloved father, veteran, and photographer, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. Born on May 31, 1949, in Bronx, New York, Joe lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 76. Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty and honor. Following his service, he pursued a career as an Industrial Photographer for Public Utilities, where he combined his technical skills with his artistic flair to capture the essence of industrial landscapes. A man of diverse interests, Joe found joy in photography, salsa music, and traveling. He was known for his love of horror movies and cherished evenings spent at happy hour or enjoying movie nights with friends and family. His passion for capturing life's moments extended beyond his profession, as he was an active member of the Shutterbugs photography club. Joe was also a dedicated member of the American Legion and Veteran's Affairs, where he forged lasting friendships and continued to serve his community. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Jose and Cecilia Collazo. Joe leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his son, Joey Collazo, and daughter-in-law, Ana Salvador, as well as his ex-wife, Luz Miriam Santora. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on October 8th, 2025, from 3 to 5 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a man who touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and zest for life. Joe Collazo will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, Joe's family would love a donation to The Special Olympics to be made in his honor, donations can be made through this link: https://shorturl.at/8IbPj as well as the American Legion at this link: https://mylegion.org/PersonifyEbusiness/Donate#legion-org
