Joe Peyton Irving, Sr., 78, of Farmville, Virginia passed away on October 6, 2024. Born on August 29, 1946 in Farmville, Virginia. He was a graduate of Prince Edward Academy in 1965 and served as a Sergeant in the Army (1966-1968) during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Irving of 54 years, their four children and eight grandchildren: Joe P. Irving, II (Lara), their children Joe Peyton III, Lucy and Walker; Jeffrey Irving, Sr. and his children Madison, Kaitlyn, and Jeffrey Jr.; Courtney Irving (Brittany) and their children Rayah and Emma; and Casey Irving. In addition, he is survived by his brother L.L. Irving, brother-in-law Tommy Nelson, and sister-in-law Tiny Dobson. He was a special brother, brother-in-law and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Joe was a man of great integrity, drive and strength when it came to all thing’s tobacco. He worked tirelessly to support his family with farms in Prince Edward/Charlotte Counties and buying tobacco in Lancaster, PA with his company Ideal Leaf Tobacco. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 9th from 5-8pm at Puckett’s Funeral Home in Farmville, VA. There will be a graveside service Thursday, October 10th, at 11am at Douglas Presbyterian Church 420 Douglas Church Rd. Farmville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Douglas Presbyterian Church (mail to: 6157 Abilene Rd. Farmville, VA 23901, Irving Memorial Fund).We find comfort in knowing that Joe’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
