Virginia Beach - Joe Ann (Coburn) Leach, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, the city of her birth. She was 75 years old.
Born on October 13, 1949, in Norfolk, Virginia, Joe Ann was the oldest daughter in a family of ten children. Her upbringing in a large family instilled in her a deep sense of love and loyalty, traits she carried with her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Minnie Estelle (Butler) Coburn, as well as her brothers, William, Johnny, Larry, and Mark Coburn, and her sister, Tessie Dissel.
A lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Joe Ann dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She spent her days nurturing her loved ones and creating a warm and welcoming home. Known for her culinary talents, she found great joy in cooking and baking, delighting family and friends with her delicious creations. An avid BINGO enthusiast, she enjoyed the camaraderie and excitement of the game.
Joe Ann's generous spirit and kind heart were evident to all who knew her. She had a special way of staying connected with her family, famously calling daily with her well-known greeting, "What are y'all doing?" Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert Leach, who stood by her side through life's journey. Her legacy of love continues through her children, daughters Carolyn Greer (David) and Lisa Silcox, son Christopher Leach, and her grandchildren, Jason, Holly, and Robert. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Levi, Carson, and Julianna, who brought immense joy to her life. Her surviving siblings include brothers Leslie Coburn (Jane) and Curtis Coburn (Patty), and sisters Claudia McCann (Grant) and Tammy Hodges (William), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned at this time. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is assisting her family during this difficult period. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories and express condolences at CandFServices.com.
Her family is deeply saddened by the loss of Joe Ann, whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion will forever remain in their hearts.
