Joe Clint Sutton, 73, of Mount Olive, passed away on Monday December 29, 2025, at Johnston UNC Health Care in Smithfield.

Born on October 9, 1952 in Wayne County to the late Ellis Brown Sutton and Mary Marie Cox Sutton.

He is also preceded in death by his son, Kevin Sterling Sutton; brother, John Brown Sutton; grandparents, Janie Odom Sutton and John Brown Sutton, Agnes Wolf Cox and Kirby Cox; uncle, Nathaniel Cox.

The family will be receiving friends at Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a Funeral Service immediately to follow at 2:00 PM.

Joe loved many different hobbies during his life, skiing with his brother JB, tennis with family and friends farming with his daughter Ann, fishing and hunting with his son Kevin, going to their beach oasis with his wife Marie, target practice with his grandsons and his most recent was to go "clinking" (shooting cans) during his daily travels down the dirt road he was raised on. Joe even had a talent for grilling on special occasions and holidays for his family and friends. He was a great conversationalist and loved one on one time spent with others. A smart man who could take anything apart and rebuild it, he was very particular in his works. Joe enjoyed working hard was a devoted worker and a wonderful provider, was known to be very dependable and reliable. He loved to take care of or help repair things for his family and friends. He would do anything to help others and enjoyed doing it. Most of all, Joe loved being home and his family and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived and loved by his wife of 52 years, Marie Ann Hair Sutton; a daughter, Ann Marie Johnson; grandchildren, Stacey Holmes (Blake), Greg Johnson, Harmony Edwards, and Charisma Walker. Joe is also survived and loved by 10 great-grandchildren.
