Joe Douglas ("Doug") Wigginton, 81, of Somerville, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 5, 2025, surrounded by his family at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born May 13, 1943, in Somerville to Charles Lee Wigginton Sr. and Gertrude Russell Wigginton. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles, and sisters, Dot, Ruth, and Sue. He is survived by his sister Jean Wigginton Schuck, brother James Cooper Wigginton (Robbie), sons Rance Wigginton and Steven Partridge (Anna), daughter Penny Wigginton Eddy (Mark), and grandchildren Logan Partridge, Alyssa Partridge, Lexi Eddy, Becca Eddy, and Alana Eddy.
Doug served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Monsanto/Solutia in the late 1990's to pursue his passion of cattle farming. He was an active member of the Morgan County Cattlemen's Association, where he served as President from 2006-2007. He also served as assistant chair for the Alabama Soil and Water Conservation Committee for 21 years. During the same time, he served multiple positions on the Morgan County Farmers Federation Board of Directors. He served for 25 years as a member of the Morgan County Sheriff's Posse, and was a member of the Nunn-Oden Masonic Lodge.
Peck Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later time.
