Mr. Joe B. Wilson

WILSON, Joe Burgin, 98, Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the Mesa Vista Nursing Home in Boulder, Co. It was his wish to go near Denver from Tampa. His great niece, Sudie Swader, visited him daily and was with him when he died. Joe was a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He came to Tampa in 1935 to attend the University of Tampa where he met Ruby Wadsworth, a native of Tampa. They married upon his graduation from the University of Alabama in 1939. He joined the Navy during WWII and attained the rank of full lieutenant. After serving two years, he worked for U.S. Steel as a mechanical engineer in Birmingham for 26 years. He retired in 1972 and the couple returned to Tampa. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby, to whom he was happily married to for 43 years. He is survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends. Graveside funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
