Joel Kelley

Joel Kelley, 79, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2026, in Port Richey, Florida. Born on November 10, 1946, in Waukegan, Illinois, Joel lived a life marked by dedication to family, a passion of sports, and a fulfilling career in publishing.

Joel was the beloved husband of Sandra, and just celebrated their 40th anniversary on 11-28-25. Joel is also the proud father of Jason (Tammy) and Kyle(Erin). He was also a cherished grandfather of Stephanie, Julia, Jon, Jaden, and Shea; and great-grandfather to Aurora Rose, Demy Lynn, Olive Jade and another great-grandchild expected soon. He is also remembered by his brothers Kevin (Carol) and Tim (Gay). Joel was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Eleanor Kelley.

Throughout his professional life, Joel built a respectful career with Lakeland Publications and The Advertiser Network in Lake County, Illinois. His work reflected his commitment to community engagement and communication. In 2005, he retired and relocated to Florida to embrace the lifestyle he had long envisioned-one filled with golf outings, beachside relaxation, and travel adventures.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Joel's knowledge of athletics was vast and deeply rooted. He was an avid golfer and bowler who found joy both on the green and at the lanes. A devoted Chicago Cubs fan and a diehard Green Bay Packers supporter, Joel held Packers season tickets for many years-a testament to his unwavering loyalty.

Joel's legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him best. His love for sports brough people together; his stories sparked laughter; his presence offered comfort.
