Joel Mowery

Joel Mowery, a cherished family man and esteemed heavy equipment operator and mechanic, passed away on March 11, 2025, in Rochelle Park, NJ. Born on May 26, 1956, in Red Bank, NJ, Joel's life was characterized by his expertise with machinery, the love for his family, and a heartwarming presence that enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Growing up in Holmdel, NJ, Joel later settled in Keyport with his beloved wife of 48 years, Sabrina, where they shared thirty years of beautiful memories and raised a family that was the center of Joel's world. His legacy is carried on by his wife, Sabrina Mowery; his daughter, Kelly Martino, and her husband, Mark; his son, Jason Mowery; his mother, Marie Mowery; his granddaughters, Melina Coscia, Kiersten Martino, Addison and Abigail Mowery; his brothers, Shawn and his wife Marisa Mowery, Lee and his wife Dawn Mowery; and his sisters, Marianne Knoeppel and her husband, Paul, and Michele Tilton and her husband, John. He also has many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Joel E. Mowery.
Joel's life was defined not only by his kinship but also by a lifelong career as a mechanic, a trade that brought him immense satisfaction and joy. Joel has worked at Preferred Mechanical in Keyport for the last 10 years, known for his problem solving and expertise. His personal garage, a testament to countless hours of labor and love, stood as a sanctuary where Joel could be found immersed in his passion for automobiles, trucks, and tinkering to his heart's content.
A handyman par excellence, Joel's talents extended far beyond his garage. His knack for fixing and improving things around him made him a reliable figure for his family and friends. Moreover, he was treasured by his granddaughters, who were the shining lights of his life, and he glowed with pride at every mention of them.
Joel Mowery's kind spirit and skilled hands have left an indelible mark. He was undeniably an all-around good guy remembered fondly as a beacon of support and warmth to his loved ones. Joel's passing leaves behind a void, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know this exceptional man.
A Visitation for Joel will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 HWY 79, Morganville, NJ 07751.
