In loving memory of Joetta Tatum, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and beacon of strength. Joetta passed away at the age of 80. surrounded by the love of her family.

Joetta's life was a testament to resilience and unwavering love. She was born in Arkadelphia on November 26, 1943, to Maude and Dona Brown. She grew up with a deep sense of family values and a fierce determination to create a better life for herself and those she loved.

Joetta graduated from Peake High School in 1964. Her journey as a mother began early with the birth of her son Gregory in 1964 and her daughter TaJuana followed in 1969. From the outset, Joetta embraced motherhood with boundless love and dedication, instilling in her children values of compassion, resilience, and the importance of family.

Years later, Joetta found love with John Tatum, a kind-hearted man who became her rock and partner in life. Together, they built a beautiful family where love knew no bounds. John embraced Joetta's two children as his own, weaving them seamlessly into the fabric of their loving home. Together, Joetta and John welcomed Jason into the world in 1973, and LeRone in 1977.

Her capacity to nurture and care knew no limits, as she juggled the joys and challenges of raising four children with grace and compassion.

Throughout her life, Joetta found fulfillment in various roles. She was an active member of Greater Pleasant Hill, where her faith and compassion shone brightly. Joetta's commitment to her spiritual journey was a guiding force in her life, providing comfort and strength to her family and friends.

Professionally, Joetta thrived in hospitality, where her warmth and kindness endeared her to colleagues and patrons alike. Her genuine care for people and knack for making others feel welcome made her a natural in the industry. Joetta's attention to detail and willingness to help left an enduring impression on everyone she met.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Joetta was deeply committed to her role as a mother and grandmother. She cherished her involvement in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Whether volunteering in classrooms, cheering them on at sports events, watching programs, combing hair, giving encouraging words, or making a phone call just because her love was always felt.

Joetta's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She reveled in simple pleasures like family dinners, weekend get-togethers, and celebrating milestones together. Her laughter echoed through their home, creating a sanctuary of love and joy.

Joetta passed on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in her passing by her parents; her sisters, Margaret Simmons, Jewel Williams, Rosietta Holliman, Melba Jean White, Flossie Summerville, Annie Bess Hill, and Francis Middleton; and a brother, Fred Brown.

Joetta leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and courage. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband John, her children Greg, TaJuana, Jason Sr. (Michelle), and LeRone (Shakira), her grandchildren Ashley (Ashton), Jason Jr., Jaxon, Eddie Jr., Amileyun, Tyler, Sydney, Sanai, and Madisyn; her great-grandchildren Anaiya, Amari, and Laila; her bonus grandchildren, Erin Bre Hill, Trace and Emilee Young; sisters Eva and Hazel whom she adored, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives she enriched.

Though Joetta's physical presence may be gone, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Her legacy of love and light will continue to guide us all. One of her favorite quotes was, “Do it like it go.” We will honor that legacy.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Williams Funeral for a moment of memories and milestones. The committal service and interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery – Clayborn Chapel Community.
