My first memory of Russell is when he and another neighbor Michael, came over my house welcoming me to the neighborhood in Laurelton,Queens back in 1969. He had a Lhasa Apso that he adored. I believe that the board game Risk was his favorite because there were several arguments over the game when we played with other children. He used to always talk about politics, and meeting influential people. One time when my mother was sick in the hospital, his mother celeste , took care of me.(passed in 2016) She was really nice. She always invited her niece Melissa over to play with us. We had a childhood dream that we were going to open a restaurant like White Castle, but it would be owned by African Americans. Russell went to Brooklyn Tech High School , I went to Catholic School, so we barely had time to hang out on the stoop like we used to as youngsters. I know Russell had big dreams but never imagined that he would have been Treasury Inspector General of the United States! I´m proud to have known him and very sorry that he is no longer here . Rest in peace my friend .
