Joey Morast, 61, of
Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023 in Niagara Hospice House. Born in Mobile, AL, he was the son of Annie (James) Morast and the late Foster Morast; and step-son of the late John Bennett.
Joey was raised in
Brooklyn, NY, and later moved to Western New York. In 1981, he obtained his Auto Mechanic Certificate and also received his CDL in 1986. Most recently he was employed by Key Bank in Niagara Falls. He also took great pride in helping others by operating the handicapped accessible van for many years.
Joey was a member of the Potter's House Christian Community Church, where he was a member of the Men of Praise, the Prayer Team and served as a security guard.
Joey was an avid fisherman and an excellent cook. He also was a talented handyman, landscaper and automotive tech. He had a love for music and enjoyed singing, as well as playing the keyboard. Above all, Joey cherished the time spent with his family, especially his children, who will miss him greatly.
In addition to his mother, Joey is survived by his children, Chamisse and Jelaine, both of
Binghamton, NY, Jada and Joy both of
Buffalo, NY, and Josephina and Joey Jr. both of
Niagara Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Isaiah, Kayden, Asher and Sammie; his former wife, Michelle Morast of
Niagara Falls, NY; his siblings, Jacqueline Morast and Paul 'Rodney' Morast both of
Brooklyn, NY; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Leticia Morast.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 21 from 11 – 12 Noon at Potter's House Christian Community Church, 723th Street,
Niagara Falls, NY, followed by homegoing services at 12 Noon. Interment will be held privately in Tod Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown, OH. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.
