Johanna Maria Ogg Bates, age 79 of Bremen, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025.  She was born on October 25, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Oscar and Sofia Ogg.  In addition to her parents, Joanie is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Tom Bates, and her brothers, Bradley and Rick Ogg.

A graduate of Trotwood Madison High School, Joanie spent many years in warehouse management.  In her younger years, she enjoyed crafting and shopping.  Traveling was one of her favorite activities, and she truly enjoyed going to the lake and being on the water.  She could watch Hallmark movies for hours.  She dearly loved her family and cherished spending time with them.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Renee (Brian) Key of Bremen and Angie (Patrick) Faulkner of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; her son, Sean (Michelle) Bates of Wasilla, Alaska; and her precious grandchildren: Emily Faulkner, Madison Faulkner, and Ethan Key.  Also surviving are her brother, Vincent Ogg of Dayton, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Diane Ogg of Stafford, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Preacher Bobby Driver officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
