John Steven Alt, 74, of Morrison, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by the loving family who meant so much to him.

John was born on October 8, 1951, in Salina, Kansas, to Carl and Helen Alt. John was a devoted Lutheran and spent his early years in Marysville, Kansas. He grew up with strong values of hard work, service, and devotion to family—qualities that remained with him throughout his life.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His time in service was something he carried with pride throughout his life. Years later, he learned that he had been exposed to Agent Orange and would eventually become a 100% service-connected disabled veteran, yet he faced those challenges with strength and resilience.

After returning home, John attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. During his time in the Army, he discovered a passion that would shape the rest of his life—photography. What began as an interest soon grew into a lifelong career. John opened Alt’s Photography in Hutchinson, Kansas, later moving the business to Wichita, Kansas. Through his camera lens, he captured countless moments and memories for families and communities, a gift that brought him great joy.

John was also deeply involved in the Kansas Professional Photographers Association, where he served in several leadership roles and was honored to serve as president from 1995 to 1996. He was respected by his peers for both his talent and his willingness to help others grow in the profession he loved.

On July 21, 2018, John married the love of his life, Elizabeth Condit-Alt. Their marriage brought him great happiness, and he cherished every moment they shared together.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Alt and Helen Elizabeth (Brunner) Alt, his sister, Marlene R. Hassman, and a nephew Mark Hassman.

John is survived by his beloved wife of seven years, Elizabeth Condit-Alt of Morrison. Although John never had children of his own, he was grateful to gain a family who loved him and whom he loved deeply.

He is survived by two stepsons, Charles Condit and his wife Shannon of Morrison, and Ryan Condit and his wife Hannah of Mannford; and one stepdaughter, Andrea (Condit) Galloway and her husband B.J. Galloway of Morrison.

John was also a proud and loving grandfather figure to Coy and Taylor Condit of Morrison, Cody and Steven Condit of Mannford, Amanda Lawley and her husband Tommy of Bristow, and Bo Galloway of Morrison. He was also blessed with two step-great-grandchildren, Avery Strain and Callum Lawley of Bristow.

John will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love for his family, and the passion he brought to work and people he cared about. His life touched many, and the memories he created—both through his photographs and through his love—will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Friends are welcome to stop by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to sign his book. If you would like to have time to fellowship with family, they will be present at the funeral home.

A service to celebrate John’s life will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, 1301 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma. Reverend Aaron Fergenson will officiate the funeral service. Internment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Herrington, Kansas. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
