Last evening I was reading a piece that I wrote about 25 years ago about my time in the US Navy aboard the USS Leonard F. MASON DD852. In the article I wrote briefly about some of the men that I considered good friends. John Amarante was one of my closest friends and a very nice person. I never have forgotten that he hailed from Gustine, California. I decided to try to make contact with him this morning when I learned that he had passed. I was shocked by this news and I had hoped that I could talk a bit with him about our time together in the Navy. He was a fine guy and I always valued my friendship with him. If you are interested in the piece that I wrote about our time in the Navy, I would be very happy to share this with you. If you would like to see this, please send me your current email or mailing address (email best). My email is [email protected] and my postal address is chris jorgensen, 35126 minuet drive, Palm Desert, CA 92211. Again, I was very fond of our relationship and would say he was my best friend aboard ship. My thoughts go out to his family.
