John Anderson Jr. Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2025.
John Harvey Anderson Jr, age 75, of Two Harbors passed away on March 16, 2025 at Diamond Willow Lester Park Assisted Living in Duluth. He was born in Farmington, Michigan on August 17, 1949 to Frances (Yake) and John Anderson Sr. He is survived by his loving wife Sue of 46 years, daughter Brittany (husband Greg) and grandchildren Reto and Nola.

John graduated from Lake Park high school in a Chicago suburb, and obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Drake University.

He went on to work for his family's business at Northern Printing Ink in Omaha, practiced interior design for Dayton's as well as independently, opened Anderson & Anderson Art Gallery in Minneapolis with his wife, and operated as a realtor on the North Shore. John and his wife proudly built their unique home on Lake Superior. A lifelong artist and supporter of the arts, he was active in the local art community. He collected art, antiques, and distinctive rocks, bred and exhibited Russian Blue cats, enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

Warmhearted, sociable, and easygoing, he is deeply missed.

A celebration of his life will be held at First Lutheran Church in Duluth on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at 1PM.

I will always remember in-depth discussions with John about art and its importance in the world. He generously contributed his time and energy to our arts organization and his spirit will live on in his work and in all of us who enjoyed his company.
