John Lee Armstead, son of the late Johnnie and Claudis Valentine Armstead was born on August 28, 1944 in Chowan County, Edenton, NC. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
John attended Edenton High School. Later he married Edna Jackson in 1965 and they journeyed to Boston, Mass. They resided there for over 50 years. To this union four children were born.
John was employed at John Powell Printing Company Boston, Mass. until his retirement, then he moved back home.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Armstead; one son, Kenneth Armstead; his parents, Johnnie and Claudia Armstead; three brothers, Ernest, George, and Louis Armstead; three sisters, Gladys Welch, Ruth Armstead, Emma Rankins.
John leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Michael Armstead (Lisa) of Phonenix, AZ, Jonathan Armstead (Gina) of Brockton, Mass; two daughters, Carla Campbell of Denver, CO, Cynthia Williams of Burlington, NC; four granddaughters, Chante Armstead, Amber Johnson, Elizabeth Campbell, Serenity Williams; two grandsons, Aaron Campbell, Joshua Campbell; five sisters, Bertha Lassiter of Suffolk, VA, Irma Cherry (Larry) of Merry Hill, NC, Eva Wrighton, Shirley Maddred and Mildred White of Edenton, NC; one brother, Thomas Armstead (Kay) of Edenton, NC; three sisters-in-law, Katie Gregory (Roy), Nancy Armstead of Edenton, NC, Christine Bond of Boston, Mass.; two brothers-in-law, David Jackson (Doris)of Edenton, NC, Andrew Jackson of Garner, NC; one aunt, Virgil Valentine of Edenton, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We can not Lord thy purpose see
But all is well that is done by thee
Our loss was great we'll not complain
But trust in God to meet again
