John Arpad Jr passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday February 3, 2024 at the age of 93 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. John was born on September 7, 1930 in Randolph, Ohio. After graduating from Wadsworth High School he enlisted in the Navy. He married his longtime sweetheart Emily in 1952. They moved from Ohio to California in 1959 and lived there until 1992. Upon retiring John and Emily relocated to Colorado.
In his youth John was a Boy Scout and obtained the highest rank of Eagle Scout. As John had sons of his own he became a Boy Scout Den Father. He worked as a machinist most of his career, but also served in the Newport Beach, California police reserves for many years. John was very active with the Knight of Columbus from 1974 up until just a few years ago.
Besides having nine children of his own, John had many "adopted" children he treated as his own.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Pauline Arpad. Sisters Anne McClure, Agnes Harris, Mary Arpad and Polly Arpad. Grandchildren Stephanie Arpad and Mitchell Arpad.
Survived by his wife of 71 years, Emily Arpad. Brother Joseph (Susan d.) Arpard. Children John Arpad, Joseph Arpad, Ann (John) Alameda, Steven (Cindy) Arpad, Richard Arpad, Edward Arpad, Thomas (Alicia) Arpad, Cheryl (Fred d.) Edwards, and Jeffrey Arpad. Thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
John was loved by many and will be held forever in their hearts.
A funeral mass for John will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 US Hwy 85, Colorado Springs, CO 80911.
