John Artim, 87, of Largo, Fla., went to the Lord on March 8 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in McAdoo to Mary (Chulock) and Nicholas Artim on Sept. 11, 1935. He grew up in McAdoo with his brothers and sisters and often spoke about his beautiful childhood and the love and gratitude he had for his family.
He met the love of his life, Laura (Makowiec), and married her on Aug. 11, 1962. He attended Penn State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He moved to Philadelphia and then to Souderton, where John and Laura raised their children, Marcin and Kimberly. John had a lengthy career at Merck Pharmaceutical, where he developed life-long friendships. John was also the owner of Johnny's place in Junedale, where he enjoyed throwing dart tournaments. John moved to Largo, Fla., in 2019, where he made many friends while playing bingo and poker.
John was a thoughtful and caring man who will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. He was a devout Catholic who loved his family and friends and enjoyed sharing his life stories of growing up in McAdoo. He was a devoted father and grandfather and went by the name, "Pap." He had a great sense of humor, was an avid Phillies fan, loved polka music and was an excellent quiot and cornhole player. We know he is playing some awesome games in heaven while listening to polkas!
John is survived by his son, Marcin and wife, Jean, Largo, Fla.; daughter, Kimberly, Largo, Fla.; grandchildren, John, Thomas, Jessica, Dylan and Nicholas; sister, Mary Ann Leshko, McAdoo; as well as beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Laura; his brothers, Nicholas and Daniel; and his sister, Theresa Capaso.
Services for John will be private.

John sponsored our Traveling 8-Ball Pool Team for the Hazleton 8-Ball League and then a few years later allowed us to continue our love of pool with an 'in-house' league at his popular Junedale bar, 'Johnny's Place'. He was a great guy that wasn't a bad pool shot either! Always treated us well. RIP my friend. Sincerely, Billy Hines
