John Aughey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. Louis Cremation - Downtown from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, 2022.
John Wayne Aughey, 72, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022. Beloved husband of 21 years to Janice Ann Aughey (nee Bumm), father to John Henry Aughey (Arianne), and grandpa to Carolyn, Eleanor, and Abigail. Predeceased by his parents, Wilma and John L. Aughey, and his first wife, Carol Ann Aughey (nee Ratliff).

John loved music and technology and spending time with his family and his dear friends, Terry and Vicki. He began and ended his career as a radio DJ; in between he worked in information technology. He also volunteered as an EMT and with Amatuer Radio emergency services. He enjoyed Amateur Radio, making pancakes with his granddaughters, traveling, visiting flea markets, bowling, and sharing puns. Amiable and gentle, he loved many generations of cats and dogs, and despite a 5 year struggle with dementia, remembered the name of his granddog Cody until the end.

Services will be held Saturday, December 3rd, at the Washington University Catholic Student Center Chapel. 6352 Forsyth Blvd. Clayton, MO 63105. Visitation beginning at 10:30am. Memorial service beginning at 11:30am. Lunch to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to DeGreef Hospice House, where he was cared for during his last 3 weeks, or DaySpring Arts & Education, where he watched his granddaughters perform for many years.
